The $8,000 tax credit is working. First-time buyer home sales were up by 25% in 2009. It has helped take many foreclosures off the market and rehabilitate some neighborhoods. It has given an incentive for buyers who may otherwise not purchase a home right now. Every home sale in this economy produces jobs. Think of all the industries and businesses that benefit from home sales. Roofing, electricians, painters, movers, home repair retail establishments, national chains, furniture and appliance stores, carpeting and local businesses in the new home owner's area. The tax credit helps more home buyers realize the American dream and each time a house is sold, many benefit from it including the home buyer. The sale of a home is the driving force for everyone in this economy.
Please let your voice be heard by telling Congress and the Senate to extend the tax credit until December 1, 2010. Stimulation of the housing market is key to leading us out of the recession. We're getting there but we're not there yet.
If you choose to write a letter, you can drop it off at any Howard Hanna office and we'll mail it for you. Please pass this along to your friends and family and make sure your voices are heard!
