Negatives Of Smoking In The Home & Why You Should Quit.
There are a lot of reasons not to smoke. We know the obvious ones, health, dependency, expense and odor on hair and clothes, but when it comes to selling your home, there are specific problems caused by smoking in the home.

If you're thinking of quitting smoking, now is a great time. It's always a great time. Many New Year's resolutions will be filling to-do lists soon, and the price of cigarettes is astronomical, especially in this economy.

  • Tobacco smoke adheres to all things in the home, lamps, furniture, appliances, curtains, blinds, glass, walls and ceilings. Smoking in the home also increases the chances of a fire or burning your furniture or belongings.
  • Tobacco smoke will stain and discolor your home and belongings. If your home is on the market, you may need to spend an additional $500-$1000 to repaint ceilings and walls. This is money you could use to make other worthwhile repairs or staging.
  • Home buyers walking into your home, judge it by three things initially, smells, cleanliness and visuals. Nothing should ever stand out that is offensive. Cigarette smoke lingers and you'd be surprised who can detect it while you can't.
  • Home buyers sensing smokers in the home will often times relate that to not caring. They will then view the rest of the home with this in mind. They will assume that if the owner doesn't care about the smells or damage caused by smoking, they may let other functions in the home go as well.
  • Your home not only becomes stained by cigarette smoke, but you'd be surprised how the entire home is affected. Cigarette smoke attaches to televisions, baseboards and light bulbs. The lighting in your home could be reduced by the bulbs being dirty.
  • The extra cleaning you'll have to do in order to rid your home of the cigarette smells and discoloration surpasses just dusting. It's not something you can just brush off, most of the time it requires scrubbing. That's a lot of unnecessary work.
A friend of mine, Debbie, is a talented hypnotist. You have probably heard of this method being used to help people quit before and it actually works. I've asked Debbie of WisdomHypnosis to shed a little light on the subject and give some answers to common questions. If you're thinking of quitting smoking, she's offering a special discount for anyone mentioning YouShouldOwn.com while contacting her. It makes a great Christmas present and may save the life of yourself or someone you know. It may also help you keep your home in great shape and sell it easier.

From your experience, what does it take to quit smoking permanently?
Desire. When a potential client calls to inquire about hypnosis for smoke cessation, I first want to know the reason they are choosing to stop now. If they tell me that the spouse, friend, kids wants them to quit, that is not enough.
Even health issues (such as emphysema) are not a guarantee that someone is motivated enough. They must desire to take control of a part of their life that has been out of control. Take back their power from the tobacco industry. I ask them what they like and what they don't like about smoking. This tells me a tremendous amount about the motivation and whether they are really ready.

How can hypnosis over the phone really work toward the quitting goal?
Think of it this way, much of the work is done with your eyes closed. If you are more relaxed in your own bed or chair, won't that make it easier for you to feel safe? I have worked with clients from around the world by phone. I record our session and email the audio to them to listen to anytime they wish! (Disclaimer: NOT while driving.)
People don't realize it, but they were hypnotized into thinking they should smoke in the first place. They weren't sitting in an office when that occurred, they were listening to the media or peers while fully engaged.

What is the percentage of success you're seeing by over the phone hypnosis?
I am not permitted to give exact numbers, I wish I could! Suffice it to say that I have a very high success rate, due to the fact that I screen potential clients to be sure they are ready and that we are a good mix. Confidence in your hypnotist is important, so I like to be sure that the client and I are able to communicate in a friendly and healthy manner.
Studies show that a single session hypnosis treatment to stop smoking produced about a 25% success rate, whereas about 66% of those engaging in at least 4-5 sessions of hypnosis quit smoking after a 6-12 month period. (Hammond, 1990, p. 407). My rate is much higher, with fewer than 4 sessions. Major insurance companies now reimburse up to $200 worth of quitting smoking assistance. The IRS allows a 100% tax credit on all monies spent with hypnosis for stopping smoking. They do not allow the same credit for patches, pills or other methods.

I will offer any preferred client of Cecilia Sherrard a special price package, 35% off any sessions purchased when mentioning Youshouldown.com! At the already discounted price of $200 per session, that would mean 3 sessions for only $390! Compare that to the cost of cigarettes and related expenses. You can view my Great American Smoke Out post for more IRS details and information.

Here are some past client testimonials:

-- I wanted to give it a week before I responded so I could say I have been smoke-free since the night I walked out of your office. I'm completely over the "two morning smokes". I've already established a new morning routine free from the control of tobacco and I like it. After work, I immediately go out and walk 1-2 miles every night. I am joining a gym with my coworkers who all work out together after work. (If you remember, I couldn't do that before because all I wanted to do was get home and have a cigarette.) I am more energized, filling my lungs with fresh air. AHHH, what a feeling. I listen to your tapes every night before I go to sleep. I don't think I'm actually in a self hypnosis state, but you are training me how to say positive things at the subconscious level to train my mind to have positive thoughts. In any event, the fact that I have gone a week without a cigarette has delighted my body and has made me very proud. I'm taking it one day at a time, and squeezing my finger and thumb together for the future. - Carol

- John

-- I saw your article in the Suncoast News recently and thought of you. Congratulations on your success! I was gifted with a Stop Smoking session with you last year at this time (from Sandy). I just wanted you to know that I haven't smoked since! I know my resolve to quit was key, but am grateful for the support of the hypnosis session and your CD. Count me in as one of your many success stories! All the best, - Judi
